10 years ago, I struggled with my relationship with food. I thought the only way to lose weight was to cut calories down to 1200, cut out all of the foods I enjoyed like sweets or burgers, and avoid social events at all costs. I tried keto, low carb, paleo and Whole 30. None of them felt sustainable and ultimately, they each led me down a path of fearing food and cycles of guilt and shame whenever I ate something that I thought would “ruin my progress”. Not to mention, I rarely saw progress in my body as a result, which also took a toll on my self confidence.
It wasn’t until I discovered flexible dieting and the beauty of counting macros, when my relationship with food completely transformed. I began to see food as fuel and a way to power my training. I learned how to properly eat for my body’s needs AND goals which ultimately lead to seeing more progress in a short amount of time than I had the years prior.
